My Umbrella Over You is Love!
Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, in offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
In 2008 my husband and I moved to Kenya, Africa. Some would call it the mission field… but we call it home! We appreciate the love and acceptance the Kenyans offered us from day one… their kindness and polite mannerism is beyond anything we had ever experienced. The Kenyans live an honor system toward parents, friend and foe that is heart rendering.
One of my most personal experiences of that love and honor came on a very hot, uncomfortable day traveling far from home to attend a VFA graduation ceremony. I had been stricken suddenly with Malaria during the travel. After trying to sit through the long ceremony I finally found my way out of the hot tent to rest. Unable to find shade I spread a blanket away from the crowd and slept sound… they tell me for hours. But when I woke I found one of my very dear Kenyan daughters sitting in the heat of the day holding an umbrella over me to shade me while I slept. Her umbrella over me was love! Let us be reminded to walk in Godly love as we are told in Ephesians 5:1-2.
